The National Eligibility and Entrance Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in India. This exam is conducted for willing students who want to get admission in any graduate medical course (MBBS/ dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD / MS) in government or private medical colleges in India.
National Eligibility and Entrance Test -UG (Undergraduate) course is available for MBBS and BDS courses which are conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Now this National Eligibility and Entrance Test -UG has replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges.
Some institutes were set up by separate laws for undergraduate courses at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, for postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, Jawarharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research JIPMER are outside the National Eligibility and Entrance Test’s purview, as these institutes.
National Eligibility and Entrance Test is also for admission into 15% seats in government medical and dental colleges and in all private medical and dental colleges all over India except Andhra Pradesh, Telangana. These states do not participate in National Eligibility and Entrance Test (15% all India quota).
