Today everyone one is aware of computer viruses. They are self replicated in the programs without the consent of the user and destroy data or corrupt the existing files. Some files are easy to recover after the damage but some files are not at all easy to be recovered. Systems are always been prevented by the installation of anti-virus software’s but still computer bugs can harm your resources. The anti-virus is installed to detect the virus in the computer. These bugs let your system to work slowly. The anti-virus needs to be updated from time to time to keep your system safe.
Systems are prevented better today from the attack of bugs as compared to few years ago and the histories of such viruses which extremely affect your systems are:
- Jerusalem a virus which had destroyed numbers of systems in Middle East of Europe and America and destroyed various companies and institutions computers in a wide range in 1988. This bug infected many of the systems but was not noticed just because later the technology was not much upgraded and knowledge about the bugs was little.
- Mellisa worm was noticed by the users when it has stopped the internet mail system and file name in which this worm was hidden “List.Dic” the virus was sent by email to various users. Later the inventor of this virus was caught and put behind the bars for 20 months with a fine $5,000.
- Nimda 2001 is a type of worm which does not corrupt the files but it slows down the access of internet and it follows five different methods to attack your system. If users want to avoid the jam traffic then they need to reinstall or refresh the data.
- ILOVEYOU (2000) a very interesting type of worm. A virus sent by sending an entitled email with an attached file and many users downloaded the file and just after the click on download file user started getting mail from the same and deleted the important files in PC. And 10% of this worm is still corrupting the systems all over the globe.
Therefore the antivirus can save your computers from the harmful effects but it’s always better to take precaution rather than prevention so try not to visit on such sites that are red flagged.
